Our services

The bilingual center for autism

We offer suitable psychological, educational, remedial and social support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Organizing the caregiving process
A first meeting is set to establish contact with the child, identify their needs, set the intervention's objectives, and assess the child's overall level.
Then, a customized program is devised with specific objectives and support methods in coordination with the primary beneficiary of the service, their family and their psychoeducational expert.
Every intervention phase requires a new assessment to judge its efficiency and make necessary adjustments.

Three types of need-based services

1. School Support
We provide individual school support (to match every student's level) and assessment; handle learning difficulties; devise support programs; and draft progress or compensation strategies.

2. Psychoeducational Support
We provide educational, developmental, and cognitive-behavioral methods via specific tools such as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), TEACCH (Treatment and Education of Autistic and Communication-handicapped Related Children) and PECS (Picture Communication Exchange System). These tools are proven to improve the affected child's quality of life and that of their family.
We also provide general support based on the various difficulties faced: devising an intervention program based on the child's strengths and weaknesses.
Our focus areas include attention, modeling, motor development (fine and gross), perception, cognitive abilities, language and other forms of communication, autonomy, and pre-school/school skills.

3. Social Skills Groups
We help enhance social skills in small groups by offering relevant training through games, conversations, videos, and modeling (imitation). The themes and topics of such encounters are chosen based on the interests of the participants; they can include:
- Understanding social norms
- Understanding our own emotions and others'
- Conversation and communication tools, etc...

Partnering with parents and external caregivers
Parents stand at the heart of the program that involves their child as they are directly implicated in the care process. Our aim is to offer them educational strategies that they can use in their daily life. Whenever possible, we can also provide external caregivers with information related to the child in question - including schools and other specialized establishments - to enable them to better understand how he thinks and functions. We can train the professionals that deal with the child, assist in the implementation of specific tools, and even participate in meetings.
